    Notes
    • In the SECREST Family Record, Elizabeth's birth is given as 23 Apr 1779 on the typed sheet and 1799 on the handwritten one. The death date and age at death on her tombstone confirms 23 Apr 1799.

NOTE: the year has to be a typo on the typed sheet as her last child was born in 1842 which would have made her 63. 1799 makes sense until you calculate her b.date and that of Lavinia, her sister from the tombstones. Since they were definitely sisters per the will of Thomas K. CORY, their brother, one of the b.dates is wrong.
      ------------------------------------
1900 Census of her son, Frank Albert Richison, says she was born in Ohio.
      -----------------------------------
HISTORY OF CLARK CO, OHIO, P.697, Pike Township
"The Christian Church was organized in 1839, at the house of Elijah PRIEST, under the charge of Rev. J. Kirby. The original members were John PRIEST and wife Catharine, Andrew CLARK and wife Nancy, and Mary CLARK, John RICHARDSON and wife Elizabeth, L. DAVIS and wife Sarah. At first they worshiped at the houses of the members. In 1840, a hewed-log house was built on the corner of L. DAVIS' land, and, in 1852, the present one-story frame building, situated on Section 34, was erected at a cost of about $1,000."

      P. 707, Bethel Township
After naming settlers who came between 1800-1810 is the following: "Among the old settlers who came later than the above, mention might be made of the following and their places of settlement: John HUSTED, who setted on Donnel's Creek, Section 9; Jacob FUNDERBURG, on Section 9; John RICHINSON, on Section 9; and Jacob LEFFEL, who settled on Section 17 about 1817." [Doubt this is John R. Richison as he was supposedly born 1800 which would have made him only 10 years old. A ten-year-old would not be listed like this with early settlers.

Ck'd FHL microfilm 466,666 and 466,667 in 2005 for a will or estate but found nothing.
    • (Research):FGS 891-01 says there is a probate record for Daniel Cory in Clark Co., OH so that could help.
      -----------------------------------
Clark Co. did not exist in 1799 when Elizabeth was born. When I plot New Carlisle, which is on the western edge of current day Clark County, into a 1799 map, it is in Hamilton County. Miami, Montgomery, and Greene counties are also possiblilities where might be found records this early for that area.

There is no return in this book so they may have been married elsewhere as only the family Bible and tradition have given the date of 6 December 1821 as the actual marriage date.

The Richardson that took an oath that John and Elizabeth were of age appears to be an "s" and then a superscript d. The other party to the oath, Solomon Kelly, was married to Elizabeth's sister in 1811 and would be John's brother-in-law by this marriage to Elizabeth.
