    • 2 September 2009. Spent about an hour tramping Brush Creek Cemetery looking for Eppy's grave but the old stones are in very bad shape -- mostly unreadable -- with many broken or pieces missing. Without an exact map of where each of the graves is, there is no way of locating this grave. The map that I obtained at the Thorntown Library indicates a grave for a Ferguson that is a veteran, John R. Ferguson. I did see that grave and searched all around that area but the map indicates there is another Ferguson right north of John R. I didn't find a stone there but some of John R.'s children were buried beside him.

A reading of this cemetery in 2001 or before gives an inscription of Ferguson, Eppy, "In Memory" w/Moses "Who Departs This Life", aged 58y, d. 27 Jun 1858. This is published and can be found online at the INGenWeb site for Boone County or at the Thorntown Public Library.

A map put out by Arphax, "Family Maps of Boone County, Indiana," show Brush Creek Cemetery and other land maps in the same publication indicate that Moses Ferguson owned land in 2nd PM T20N R1W which appears to north and a little west of the Brush Creek Cemetery.

I have unlinked Eppy/Eppa as a child of George and Ellen/Nelly Richison as I now believe that she was most likely George's niece and one of three nieces for whom George paid their passage from Ireland. She would have arrived sometime between about 1819 and George's death in 1823.

The identities of the other two nieces have not been found.
