  • Name Andrew RICHISON  [1, 2, 3, 4, 5
    • On a deed in Miami County Deed Book 12, p. 453, Andrew's name is listed as Andrew Samuel Richison. This is the first and only time I've seen it thus listed. The name is difficult to read and I'm wondering if I'm misreading it. It is only listed as Andrew Richison in the Index to those records.
    Title 64.5
    Nickname Samuel
Born ca 1796  , , Pennsylvania, USA Find all individuals with events at this location  [2, 3
    • b. 1796 per Emily Aasted from sarafina@delcarsdungeon.com

      1820 census, b. 1794-1804
      1830 census, b. 1790-1800

This narrows Andrew's birth date to 1794-1800. With Eleanor born in 1793 and John born in late 1800, that leaves both George, Jr. and Andrew's births between 1794-1799. Since George, appeared in more censuses, we have his birth as between 1798 and 1800, leaving Andrew born between 1794-1798. Using c.1796 is probably the most likely birth year for Andrew in this family.

Both Land Patents in Indiana--one in Tippecanoe Co. and the other in Cass Co.,--refer to Andrew as "of Clark County, Ohio" so wonder when he moved to Indiana?

One of the Indiana land transfers involving Andrew also involved a Joseph Hay. There is a Joseph Hay listed as being in Bethel Twp., Clark Co., Ohio on page 19 of the 1820 Fed Census -- Andrew is listed on that same page so they probably knew each other before the Indiana land transfer.

Many sources and indexes incorrectly give 18 July 1816 as the marriage date for this couple but this return by the minister clearly states it was actually 27 June 1816 when they were married.
Even though this is a clerk's copy into a record book and was obviously not the first recording of the event, it clearly indicates a date of the marriage while also showing the July date which is probably the date it was recorded. It also show how easily an indexer could have picked up the incorrect date and overlooked the actual date.
