The return that the minister supposedly filed and signed says they were married on 25 December 1884. It seems most likely that the minister or whoever filled out that portion of the record wrote 1884 by mistake as it was already two and a half months into 1884 before it was recorded.
On this first document, on the license portion Frank's name is written twice -- both as RICHISON. On marriage certificate portion, in different handwriting, his surname is RICHARDSON.
In the register for Records of Returns of Marriages, the date of license is 6 March 1884, the date of the return is 18 March 1884, and the date of marriage is 25 December 1884. Everyone else on the page had a license issued and the marriage date within the first 3 months of 1884 so it appears that again, whoever recorded this page just made a mistake and wrote 1884 when it obvious had to have been 1883. The handwriting also appears to be the same as that on the marriage certificate portion of the first document and Frank's surname again is RICHARDSON.
The first couple on the page were both marrying for the second time. Frank and Sarah are the second couple on the page and Sarah is said to be marrying for the second. No other evidence has to come to light to indicate this was indeed her second marriage. Although Sarah was listed with her parents in the 1880 U.S. census, she had ample time to have a marriage of short duration before marrying Frank in 1883. With all the other mistakes in the two marriage records, however, it also could be that the person filling out the register was simply repeating what was on the previous record and it was Sarah's first marriage, not her second.
The WPA record of Jay County, gives 25 Dec 1883 as the marriage date. That record was done in the late 1930's or early 1940's and is said to have been created from the original records.

My grandfather, Frank Albert, as I recall, always arose at an ungodly hour the morning, something like 4:00-4:30 in the morning every day. He did not smoke, drink, chew tobacco or even drink coffee. What an exemplary life he must have had. Unbelieveable!! He always had what I would consider would be an impossible breakfast of biscits (sic), gravy, sausage etc. I'm absolutely worthless until I have my coffee. I sure don't take after him even if I was named after him. As for my grandmother, I can't really say thing too much about, her since I was only 11 years old, when she died.
Since I was back there, I have thought about where my grandparents lived in Muncie, and I distinctly remember that they lived in a big house with columns on the front around the porch. And I believe that it was on Wheeling St. or Ave. I do remember that my grandmother died when they lived on Jackson Street which was within a short distance from the Kistleman Wire Mill. As I recall it was a dead end street, with no houses on the west side of them. I think that State Route 32 was to the east at the end of the block. Maybe you already know where I am talking about. By the way, the house that I mentioned above, was right across the street from a big city park, possibly McCullough? We were permitted to go over there to play. After all this time, the house is probably no longer there. If I had thought of it at the time I was there, I would have checked into it. I do believe that Luke [Robert Luke Whitcomb] went past it when we went to Richards Restuarant the evening before we came home. . .

It is my understanding that John Webster Richison was the one that had the money, because he left each of his children $75,000 apiece, which at the time was a considerable amount. I also understood that my grandfather increased his inheritance by investing in real estate, stocks and bonds and the stock market, but lost a bundle in the stock market crash of 1929. . . Did you know that Frank Albert had oil wells near Pennville which produced some income for him for several years. I have no idea what kind of incomes they produced, nor do I know what happened to them after he died.

During the stock market crash of 1929, supposedly my grandfather had lost a fortune in the crash and had only a few rental properties left, which put him in a real bind since the depression came shortly thereafter, which created a problem of cash flow, because no one had the money to either rent or buy any real estate, to provide income to live on. (I do not have any proof that he lost $400,000 in the crash as my sister claimed. It it were true, it would be in the neighborhood of, by today's economy, of $5,000,000 to $10,000,000). I sure don't know, and am not about to dwell on it.
