  • Notes 
    • RESEARCH: It appears from the census records that Andrew was married 3 times and had children with each of his wives. Susan was the first wife and they had Mariah, William H. [who probably died young], and Cyrus (also probably died young]. He then married Sarah A. Mays and they had James Madison, Mary Jane, Francis M., William, and John Albert. Finally he married Rebecca and they had Ida Ellen. The 1900 census is really baffling as his wife is listed as Sarah A. yet the tombstone for Sarah A. says she died in 1866. It also list Feb 1833 as his wife's birthdate and says he has been married for 50 years, neither of which could be true unless the tombstone is totally wrong.

      24 May 2011: (http://incass-inmiami.org/cass/census/guardians.html), "Guardian's Bonds, Oaths and Letters, Probate Book 3, May 1879-Feb 1886" p.131, located in the Cass County Clerk's office and extracted by Debby Beheler. Sarah A. Richeson is listed as deceased with John Albert listed as a minor heir. beside his name is "18 - 3 Nov 1881" and I think this means he will be 18 on 3 Nov 1881. Andrew J. Richeson is listed as the guardian with a date of 31 Jan 1882 beside his name. Is this perhaps the date the final report was made and the guardianship canceled?



      Mary McManus, page 157, is the deceased with "James A. 3 - Dec 1882" as the minor heir. "Andrew J. Richeson 6 May 1882" is the guardian but these dates don't make sense. Andrew had a daughter, Mary Jane, with his second wife Sarah A. Mays. This Mary may be his daughter but a marriage record needs to be located for McManus in Cass County.
